The Most Overlooked Hemophilia Symptoms

We always say that it’s impossible to understand what living with a bleeding disorder is like unless you live with a bleeding disorder. Using the wisdom of the crowd, we wanted to make a visual representation of overlooked hemophilia symptoms. An iceberg represents an unknown, hidden element below the surface.

On MyHemophiliaTeam.com, the social network and online support group for people living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, members discuss the chronic nature of the disease and its hidden symptoms. Throughout the year we will share themes we see come up time and time on MyHemophiliaTeam.

A bleeding disorder comes with dozens of possible combinations of symptoms, many of which are unknown to outsiders. Most people don’t know the symptoms we live with. We chose the image of an iceberg to represent hemophilia symptoms because the life-impacting implications of a diagnosis aren’t obvious on the surface. Members told us that overlooked symptoms include pain, walking and mobility issues, and depression. Please share to spread bleeding disorder awareness!
