Why do Rastafarians use marijuana in their religion?

Image: Why do Rastafarians use marijuana in their religion?

Rastafarians are associated with reggae music, dreadlocks, Bob Marley and of course marijuana. Rastas often refer to weed as “The Holy Herb” and consider it to be sacred. Do Rastas smoke marijuana just to get high, or does it have some other meaning in their culture and religion?

The Rastafari religion is stereotyped as having members who are constantly stoned and that the whole movement is, in fact, just an excuse to smoke a lot of pot. In fact, it is seen by many as a cover for nothing more than a bunch of drug users and drug smugglers.

Rastafarians – what their religion teaches them about marijuana

Marijuana’s use as part of religious ceremonies is not new. The practice goes back for thousands of years in a variety of cultures. For example, in India and Nepal, traveling monks have used marijuana for centuries, and other religious groups have also used marijuana or viewed the substance as sacred, including the ancient Chinese, ancient Germanic pagans and Hindus. Many Rastafarians believe that cannabis originated in Africa and that it is part of their African culture that they are reclaiming.

Rastafarians feel that marijuana is important for their understanding of self, the universe and God. The use of cannabis is part of what the Rastafari refer to as “reasoning sessions” where members join up and are encouraged to interact and discuss life according to the Rasta perspective. Rastafarians reject materialism, oppression and sensual pleasures, called “Babylon.” In fact, they see the marijuana plant as the “Tree of Life” mentioned in the Bible and often quote scriptures that support their beliefs. For example, at Revelation 22:2, the phrase “the leaves of the tree [of life] were for the healing of the nations” refers to the marijuana plant, according to them. While marijuana use forms part of their beliefs, it is not compulsory for a Rastafarian to smoke it.

Rastas fight for the right to use marijuana as part of their religion

In South Africa, Rastafarian lawyer Gareth Prince has been challenging legislation that outlaws dagga (South African word for “marijuana”), notes LegalBrief.co.za, citing a report in The Mercury. Prince has that requested certain sections of the Drugs and Drugs Trafficking Act and the Criminal Procedure Act be declared invalid, among other things.

Prince himself faces criminal charges in the Khayelitsha Regional Court for dagga possession, dealing and cultivation. He questioned to what extent the government could dictate what people ate, drank and smoked. The case has been postponed.

In the US, government and corporate propaganda has caused marijuana to be seen as a dangerous drug that should be illegal, although many states have now legalized the plant for medicinal use and some states for recreational use. A massive number of people in the US have been sentenced to prison for possession ofhealth-promoting marijuana, even in cases where they have claimed that they use the substance for religious or spiritual reasons.

Mechanism identified through which lead may harm neural cells, children’s neurodevelopment.

Researchers have identified a potential molecular mechanism through which lead, a pervasive environmental toxin, may harm neural stem cells and neurodevelopment in children. The study, from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, suggests that lead exposure can lead to oxidative stress—a process that can change cell behavior and has been linked with health problems—among certain proteins within neural stem cells.

The study—one of the first to integrate genetic analysis in the lab with genomic data from participants in an epidemiological study—will be published online August 26, 2016 inEnvironmental Health Perspectives.

child drinking water

“It is known that lead particularly affects the early stages of neurodevelopment, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. Our study identified one such key mechanism and has potential implications for therapeutics to treat the neurotoxicity associated with lead exposure,” said Quan Lu, associate professor of environmental genetics and pathophysiology and senior author of the study.

Numerous studies have suggested that lead exposure can be particularly dangerous for children, with the potential to harm their cognitive, language, and psychomotor development and to increase antisocial and delinquent behavior. Although limits on the use of the lead have helped reduce blood lead levels in U.S. children, there are still half a million children aged 1-5 with blood lead levels twice as high as those deemed safe by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Recent incidences of lead contamination in drinking water in Flint, MI, and several U.S. cities highlight the continued threat. And, outside the U.S., lead levels in the environment remain high in many countries where lead has not, or has only recently, been phased out from gasoline, paint, and other materials.

In the new study, researchers explored molecular mechanisms through which exposure to lead may impact neural stem cells, which are cells that can differentiate to form other kinds of cells in the central nervous system and play a key role in shaping the developing brain.

They found that lead exposure induced an oxidative stress response in the cells, and they identified two proteins involved in the process: SPP1, or osteopontin, and NRF2.

Researchers also conducted genetic analyses on blood samples from a group of infants who were part of the Early Life Exposures in Mexico and NeuroToxicology (ELEMENT) prospective birth cohort—a study aimed at assessing the roles of environmental and social factors in birth outcomes and in infant and child development. They found that genetic variants in SPP1 in some samples were linked with cognition development in the children, whose neurodevelopmental progress was followed through age 2.

Other Harvard Chan School researchers involved in the study included Peter Wagner, PhD ’16, who led the study while a doctoral student at the School; Hae-Ryung Park; Zhaoxi Wang; Rory Kirchner; Yongyue Wei; Li Su; and David Christiani.

Funding for the study came from the Harvard Superfund Research Program

NASA Confesses to Dosing Americans with Air-borne Lithium & Other Chemicals

NASA Chemtrials

There’s the official explanation for why NASA is spraying lithium, a pharmaceutical drug most often used to treat people with manic depression or bi-polar disorder, into our ionosphere, and then there is the probable reason(s). It would be easier to accept NASA’s official explanation if they were not so secretive about everything they study and do in space – but one thing is for certain – NASA’s own personnel have admitted that lithium, along with other chemicals, are intentionally being placed into our environment regularly. It is possible that many of NASA’s own employees aren’t even aware of the true motivations for carrying out such a project, ironically displaying the very behaviors that these chemicals/pharmaceuticals are meant to instill.

In the first bomb-shell video a NASA employee (Douglas.e.rowland@nasa.gov) admits that lithium is being sprayed in the atmosphere, and says that it is “harmless to the environment.”

Before I give you NASA’s official explanation of why thy are spraying psych-meds over hundreds of thousands of Americans, I’d like to point you to some references so that you can do your own research, and discover that this is no conspiracy theory. It is very real, and there is ample scientific documentation to corroborate what I put forth here:

A Pub Med abstract titled, Feasibility of Aerosol Vaccinations in Humans discusses how an increase in antigen volumes can be beneficial in aerosol delivery of vaccines, and could be used in “developing countries and disaster areas.” The abstract also admits that several thousand human subjects have already been aerosol vaccinated with live attenuated measles and influenza A vaccines. The executive summary further states that aerosol vaccinations are ideal for “large populations.” This has apparently been happening since as early as 2003.

Another discussion of aerosolized vaccinations can be found in The New England Journal of Medicine. A Randomized, Controlled Trial of Aerosolized Vaccines Against Measles states that these vaccines were tested on children in India that were as young 9 months old.

The World Health Organization has been researching aerosol vaccines for years now, as have “philanthropic” agencies which have clear aims to sterilize the population. It is also worth noting that the pharmaceutical industry has been absolved from any legal responsibility for medicating the masses since they were awarded  legal protection from all lawsuits by Congress in 1986. This law was challenged, but upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011. Many powerful agencies are making sure that we “take our medicine.”

In fact, many nations are participating in our unwitting, forced vaccination, and the dumping of any number of attenuated viruses, chemical concoctions and other ‘chemtrails’ on our heads with dogged frequency.

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) considered giving a license application to PaxVax Australia (PaxVax) for the intentional release of a GMO vaccine consisting of live bacteria into the environment in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria. They planned to release cholera on their people.

According to the regulator, this GMO vaccine qualified as a limited and controlled release under section 50A of the Gene Technology Act 2000.

Of course, we can’t ignore the USA. Michael Greenwood wrote an article stating that:

“The incidence of human West Nile virus cases can be significantly reduced through large–scale aerial spraying that targets adult mosquitoes, according to research by the Yale School of Public Health and the California Department of Public Health.”

So, hopefully we’ve established that this IS happening. But why?

As more nations refuse genetically modified food, and refuse to drink fluoridated water, which has beennamed as a neurotoxin by one of the world’s premiere medical journals, the power structure that desires a complicit population has to figure out a way to alter our neurochemistry.

Lithium alters how we think by changing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine secreted by our endocrine system. Lithium strongly alters the brain system, yet the NASA employee in the above video states that “it is not dangerous” and doesn’t harm the population. Even doctors who normally prescribe this medication for the mentally ill have said that it is dangerous because it is hard to figure out proper dosing. Surely, spraying copious amounts of lithium indiscriminately into the air via aerosols should be questioned – but here’s NASA’s official stance on this practice:

“The project is studying neutral and charged particles in the ionosphere and how each affects the way the other moves resulting in currents in the region. The variations matter because all of our communications and GPS satellites send signals through the ionosphere. A disturbed ionosphere translates to disturbed signals, so scientists want to know just what causes the ionosphere to behave in specific ways.” (NASA)

Meanwhile, should the over-medicated start to actually figure out what is being done to them, thegovernment has imposed gag orders on the National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) who might easily refute the ridiculous claims of NASA.

The US Navy admits to conducting electromagnetic warfare drills over the Olympic Peninsula. Reader submitted photo.

The US Navy admits to conducting electromagnetic warfare drills over the Olympic Peninsula. Reader submitted photo.

Notably, every single person who works for NASA, the NWS or NOAA are paid with tax payer dollars. This means that we are paying to be medicated and poisoned.

Here, to corroborate information being given by the NASA employee in the video, is the Code 8440 RMMO which states the exact purpose of using Wallops Flight Facility to launch a rocket containing lithium thermite:

Purpose: The primary purpose of this mission was to test the loading methods for lithium canisters to be flown on the upcoming Kudeki (Kwajalein, April 2013) and Pfaff (Wallops, June 2013) missions, and verify their functionality under sounding rocket launch and space flight conditions.

Rocket Type: Two-stage Terrier MK70 Improved-Orion

Location: Wallops Range

Launcher: MRL

Date of Launch: January 29, 2013

Time: 17:50 EST

Experiment results: Thermistor data looked nominal. Good report from airborne optical platform of recorded video and lithium clouds also visible by ground observation.’

We also learn from this specific call that lithium has been dumped in our skies since 1970. If you wanted to medicate the masses to create mindless, slave-like prisoners who didn’t even know they were imprisoned, this is surely a good way to do it. Spraying lithium into our skies, along with countless other bacteria, viruses, prions, parasites, fungi, carcinogens, toxins, hormone-altering drugs, anti-flora and anti-fauna, as well as gene-altering micro-dust is nothing more than bio-warfare against the world’s citizenry. You can call them chemtrails or something else, the effect is the same.

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. …In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of personswho understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.” ~ Edward L. Bernays, Master Propagandist

Anthropocene: What is the next epoch and has Planet Earth entered ?

Nuclear bombs, plastic pollution, smoke from fossil fuels, extinction of species, rising seas, rising temperatures – the list of changes caused by humans is long.

planet-earth.jpg

What is the Anthropocene?

It is a period of geological time that some scientists believe should be formally declared because of the extraordinary impact of humans on the Earth.

Why do they think that?

In the last century, humans have caused changes to the entire planet on a par with other natural ones that left a discernible mark in the stratification of rocks and which geologists used to demarcate the transition from one time to another.

What kind of changes?

Global warming by an average of one degree Celsius since about 1880, rising sea levels, the spread of species around the world, smoke from fossil fuel burning, plastic waste, radioactive particles from nuclear bomb explosions, and changes to the Earth’s chemistry, among others.

When did the Anthropocene start?

This is still being debated but experts believe sometime in the mid-20th century, partly because this is when a layer of radioactive particles from nuclear bombs was spread all over the world.

Where does the name come from?

Anthropocene combines the Greek word for human, anthropo-, with “cene”, from the ancient Greek kainos, meaning new. All of the epochs within Earth’s current era, the Cenozoic, which began 65 million years ago, have been given -cene endings.

Why are we talking about this?

Scientists in the Anthropocene Working Group have just recommended the adoption of the Anthropocene as a new epoch – replacing the 11,500-year-old Holocene – after voting by 34 to zero that it is real.

What happens now?

The researchers are expected to look for a symbolic “line in the rock” – or sediment, coral reef or tree rings – that marks the dividing line. The International Union of Geological Sciences will have to agree before the Anthropocene could be formally declared.

Is this a good thing?

On the one hand, geologists formally recognising humanity’s extraordinary impact on the Earth because they can see it will be written in the future rocks of the planet might help persuade remaining doubters of the need to do something about climate change, pollution and other human-caused problems.

On the other, ethicist Professor Clive Hamilton has pointed out this is a concept that “should frighten us”

Alien life, or noise? Russian telescope detects ‘strong signal’ from sun-like star.

Signal detected a year ago from HD164595, only 95 light years away and with at least one planet, but Seti scientists are scanning the area and have yet to find it

radio telescope
Seti scientists have been scanning the coordinates since Sunday night but have yet to find the signal.

As David Bowie might have sung: is there life on HD164595b?

A Russian radio telescope scanning the skies has observed “a strong signal” from a nearby star, HD164595, in the constellation Hercules. The star is a scant 95 light years away and 99% of the size of Earth’s own sun. It has at least one planet,HD164595b, which is about the size of Neptune and has a 40-day year.

Seth Shostak of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (Seti) in Mountain View, California, told the Guardian he was shocked to have learned of the discovery only now – the readings from Russian radio telescope Ratan-600, Shostak said, were taken a year ago.

Seti, a private organization, searches the skies for alien life and has been underwritten by US government divisions as diverse as Nasa and the Department of Energy. Operated by the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ratan-600’s primary area of focus is monitoring the sun, though it has contributed to Seti’s work.

The news came to international attention on Saturday through Claudio Maccone of the University of Turin in Italy, who attended a talk by the scientists who recorded the signal on 15 May 2015. Maccone passed data from the presentation to the science and science-fiction writer Paul Gilster, who maintains a blog about interstellar exploration called Centauri Dreams.

Maccone sent the Guardian his proposed presentation for the International Academy of Astronautics 2016 meeting on the subject of the search for alien life, set for 27 September. He will call for the permanent monitoring of HD164595. “The power of the signal received is not unrealistic for type I civilizations,” he wrote.

The phrase “type I civilization” is a designation on the Kardashev scale, named for Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev developed in the 1960s and described in English in his 1985 paper On the Inevitability and the Possible Structures of Supercivilizations. A type I civilization would be similar to the current development of technology on earth.

“Could it be an ET?” asked Shostak rhetorically. “Of course, but [Ratan-600] didn’t have a receiver that has any spectral resolution.” The receiver on the Russian radio telescope is very wide, which aids it in its primary mission of monitoring solar activity but also means that, like a terrestrial radio receiving a news station, rock’n’roll station and country station at the same time, it is difficult to discern which band is broadcasting at which frequency. “They have a receiver that would swallow a big chunk of the radio dial at once,” Shostak said.

Because the receiver covers such a big sweep of the radio dial, it is hard to tell if the signal comes from intelligent life.

If it is being broadcast across a large chunk of the radio spectrum, the noise is probably coming from a quasar or another source of stellar “noise”; if it is over a narrower band but very strong, it is likelier to be the product of intelligence.

Gilster said he was curious about the possibility that the signal could be caused by “microlensing” – a quirk of gravity that occurs when massive objects like stars or quasars are aligned behind another heavenly body.

“My own thought is that this is very possibly a one-time signal, much like the famous WOW! signal some years back,” Gilster said. On 15 August 1977, astronomer Jerry Ehman received a powerful radio signal from a group of stars called Chi Sagittarii; he circled the surprising spot on the readout and wrote “WOW!” The signal never returned.

“If it too doesn’t repeat,” said Gilster, “then we won’t know what it was, including the possibility of some kind of local signal whose source just hasn’t been figured out.”

Shostak said he wished he had been made aware of the signal earlier. “Why is it that we’re hearing about this now because one of the guys gave a talk in Moscow a year ago?” he asked. “Maccone’s explanation is that the Russians are ‘shy’. [But] it’s generally accepted procedure in the Seti community if you find a signal that you think is interesting, you call up people in another observatory and say: ‘Hey, here’s the position in the sky,’ and you see what happens.”

Gilster said his understanding was that the Russian team had spent the past year analyzing and confirming its data.

Shostak told the Guardian that Seti’s own radio telescope was scanning the coordinates in question in search of the promising signal as of Sunday night. That evening, though, everything was quiet.

The Russian radio telescope team and Maccone have been contacted for comment.

Is Earth being contacted by ALIENS? Mystery radio signals coming from a sun-like star baffle scientists.

  • The signals seem to be coming from a sun-like star known as HD 164595
  • The star is 95 light years away and may have undiscovered planets in orbit
  • Scientists say signals may simply be the result of a natural phenomenon
  • One possibility is ‘microlensing’ in which the star’s gravity focuses signals coming from farther away

A spike in radio signals coming from the direction of a sun-like star has excited astronomers.

The signals seem to be originating from a sun-like star known as HD 164595 in the constellation Hercules, around 95 light years away.

Scientists suggest they are likely to be the result of a natural phenomenon, such as ‘microlensing’, in which the star’s gravity strengthens and focus signals from elsewhere.

But astronomers have also asked Seti (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) to take a closer look at whether they could be a message from ET.

Two SETI research groups will track HD 164595 tonight using the Allen Telescope Array (pictured) in northern California and the Boquete Optical SETI Observatory in Panama

WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?

A star or planet can act as a cosmic lens to magnify and brighten a more distant star or signal lined up behind it.

That’s because the gravitational field of the foreground star bends and focuses light, like a glass lens bending and focusing starlight in a telescope.

Albert Einstein predicted this effect in his theory of general relativity and confirmed it with our sun.

Scientists believe the latest signals could be the result of this microlensing effect in which the star’s gravity strengthens and focus signals from farther away.

SETI will track HD 164595 tonight using the Allen Telescope Array in northern California and the Boquete Optical SETI Observatory in Panama.

According to a report by Paul Gilster at Centauri Dreams, the signal was first detected on May 15 last year by the RATAN-600 radio telescope in Zelenchukskaya.

HD 164595 is interesting to scientists because it’s a sun-like star with at least one ‘warm Neptune’ planet in orbit.

Its average temperature  is 12 Kelvin hotter than the sun and is around 100 million years younger than our star.

Scientists say there may still be other planets undetected around HD 164595.

‘No one is claiming that this is the work of an extraterrestrial civilisation, but it is certainly worth further study,’ writes Gilster.

‘Working out the strength of the signal, the researchers say that if it came from an isotropic beacon, it would be of a power possible only for a Kardashev Type II civilisation.’

IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO GET IN CONTACT WITH ALIENS?

If there are any intelligent alien life forms out there, Stephen Hawking thinks we’re playing a dangerous game by trying to contact them.

The physicist believes if aliens discovered Earth, they are likely to want to conquer and colonise our planet.

‘If aliens visit us, the outcome could be much like when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans,’ he said in an interview.

But co-founder and former director of the Seti Institute, Jill Tarter, doesn’t think this will be the case.

She argues any aliens who have managed to travel across the universe will be sophisticated enough to be friendly and peaceful.

‘The idea of a civilisation which has managed to survive far longer than we have…and the fact that that technology remains an aggressive one, to me, doesn’t make sense,’ she said.

‘If it were a narrow beam signal focused on our solar system, it would be of a power available to a Kardashev Type I civilisation.’

The Kardashev scale is a way of measuring an alien society’s technological advancement based upon how much energy it has at its disposal.

A Type I civilisation is given to species who have been able to harness all the energy that is available from a nearby star, gathering and storing it to meet its population’s demands.

A Type II civilisation is much more advanced and can harness the power of their entire star.

Type III is a species that has been able to master everything having to do with energy. Earth doesn’t feature on the scale.

‘This is a bit of a puzzling story, as the Russians found this signal a year ago or so, but just didn’t let others know,’ Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI Institute told GeekWire.

‘That’s not good policy, as what you really want is confirmation at another telescope, but… Is it real?

‘The signal may be real, but I suspect it’s not ET. There are other possibilities for a wide-band signal such as this, and they’re caused by natural sources (or even terrestrial interference).’

The researchers who discovered the signals at the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Special Astrophysical Observatory say ‘permanent monitoring’ of HD 164595 is needed.

The signal will be discussed at next month’s International Astronautical Congress being held in Mexico.

Mass Chemical Spraying Before All Dolphins Games To Officially Begin

zikamiami

It’s official. The Miami Dolphins NFL football team has announced that this fall before every home game massive chemical pesticide spraying will be conducted to supposedly combat Zika virus, the totally benign virus which just recently (last year in 2015) was recreated by the mainstream media and turned into a scary killer virus which supposedly causes microcephaly in newborns.

This is mass genocide any way that you look at it as there is no such thing as a “safe” pesticide. Even worse than that is the precedent that someone at a very high level made this decision without approval from we the people:

The Miami Dolphins aren’t messing around when it comes to the Zika virus and the health of their employees and fans.

As a means to combat the virus, the organization has been aggressively using EPA-approved chemicals in and around the newly dubbed Hard Rock Stadium, where the Dolphins play their home games.

“All month, the Dolphins have been treating the 265 acres of property around the stadium, including parking lots, as a precaution, and in the interest of fan safety. The Dolphins are contracted with a pest control company that has followed CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommendations in its multi-step approach and are using products deemed safe for people, pets and aquatic life,” writes Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

The team is targeting areas where water drains, areas of standing water and basically anywhere else mosquitoes could potentially be found.

Backpack foggers are going to be used every two weeks. Additional treatments will happen two days before every Dolphins game, as well as any Miami Hurricanes games, that occur at Hard Rock Stadium this year, per the report.

So based on the power of the ministry of truth mainstream media Zika virus unproven claims the mass depopulation agenda is a full go in Miami and will be forced on innocent sports fans and anyone traveling or living near Hard Rock stadium in Miami.

I’ve been predicting a huge Zika virus psyop scare for this fall but I didn’t see this quick reaction coming at this level. Now hundreds of thousands of fans will be exposed to chemical pesticides they are told is deemed “safe” by the CDC. Mixed in these massive crowds will be pregnant women and unborn babies sucking up pesticides into their innocent and undeveloped nervous systems. This is undoubtedly intended to create what could be an epidemic of birth defects in Florida which will be blamed on, you guessed it, Zika virus. This is one of the most evil agendas imposed on innocent Americans and the whole process of jumping to conclusions about Zika virus was one of the most unscientific, knee-jerk, quick reactions to a non-problem I’ve ever seen. Frankly I believe this marks a dark and frightening moments in American history and for medical freedom and human dignity.

The tyrants are now imposing their genocide on all of humanity and these mass decisions are now based on whatever “stories” they want to conjure up. Science and reason no longer matters.

As I’ve written about for almost a year, Zika virus is a benign virus which is unrelated to microcephaly and birth defects as a whole. The cases of microcephaly seen in Brazil in 2015 (which is when this psyop began) was confirmed by doctors in Brazil to be associated with the northern region of Brazil heavily sprayed with pesticide.

All the research reports and literature clearly suggests that chemical pesticides = birth defects, sickness and health disorders. This relationship is undeniable. One investigative report in Brazil published by Reuters says the following regarding the results of chemical pesticide use in Brazil:

Since 2007, when Brazil’s health ministry began keeping current records, the number of reported cases of human intoxication by pesticides has more than doubled, from 2,178 that year to 4,537 in 2013. The annual number of deaths linked to pesticide poisoning climbed from 132 to 206. Public health specialists say the actual figures are higher because tracking is incomplete.

So how ironic is it that the fake “solution” for the Zika virus lie is more pesticide. Again, this is mass genocide and everyone should treat this as such.

Help spread the word to all Dolphins fans and all NFL fans and let them know it’s time to boycott these big sporting events. Don’t give these professional sports team owners if they are going to ignore science reason and more importantly medical freedom.

I repeat, the only way to fight back here is with education and by chosen where to spend your money.

Please help spread the word.

How to Liberate Yourself from Repressed Anger

How to Liberate Yourself from Repressed AngerReminiscing back to your childhood days, you might recall throwing a fit at the candy aisle when your mother refused to get you that bag of skittles. Back then you felt free toexpress your negative emotions. You couldn’t even have fathomed to keep them underlid in a box, that box would have exploded for sure. Then over the years, we learned that expressing out loud our feelings more often than not didn’t get us anywhere.

Long gone are the days when we were understood and forgiven for having crossed the bounds of proper behavior. You are now a grown-up, it’s time to start acting like it. Some might even suggest that you should suppress your anger altogether. But our feelings are still as potent as when we were kids. We’ve just learned to ignore them or bottle them up.

While suppressing your anger is probably wise to do in public or at your work place (you don’t want to lose your job or be labeled as a psycho,) your frustrations stacked up on one another will slowly eat away at you. Studies have shown the link between cancer and suppressed anger: “Cancer is caused by the suppression of toxic emotions; primarily anger, hate, resentment and grief. Suppression of these toxic negative emotions increases stress hormone cortisol levels, which directly suppress immune system function. When the immune system is not functioning properly, normal cells mutate into cancer cells as revealed in the 6 phases of cancer.” (alternative-cancer-care.com)

You might be thinking that this rage you feel will always be a part of you, no matter how long you meditate or try to control it- it’s still there underneath – like a dormant volcano. But you can learn to manage it and express it in healthy ways by putting into practice some useful and practical tips, so that it doesn’t end up ruining your life.

So what are some ways we can express that oppressing anger in a healthy manner?

1. Liberate Yourself from Repressed Anger through Inner Reflection

Trough quiet reflection, identify the main events in your life that prompted anger to take residence inside your heart. Mistakes, personal failures, regrets, and poor choices may have amplified the guilt and anger. Write them down so as to capture the feelings, purging those experiences on paper, letting them free.

2. Let go through forgiveness

True forgiveness cannot be achieved without understanding and compassion. Let your inner voice reveal to you the deeper causes behind hurtful acts or words. As Simone Weil observes, “a hurtful act is the transference to others of the degradation which we bear in ourselves.” Remember it never was about you. It becomes easier to forgive when you recognize the humanness in the other.

Similarly, forgive yourself for past mistakes. Dwelling on what ifs and should haves will continue to trap you in a vicious circle of negative thinking. There is an African proverb that says: “when there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.” When you have accepted yourself with all of your hang ups, getting past your regrets, your flaws and imperfections, you will be able to let go of self loathing and anger. As a result, people or circumstances will make you less angry. So if people push your buttons, there won’t be an immediate knee jerk reaction. It all starts with you.

Instead use the hard earned lessons as a building platform for a new beginning.

Everyone deserves happiness and a fresh new start. If you continue to let guilt hold you back, you will never be able to experience life, the present moment to the fullest. Let it go. You’ve suffered long enough.

3. Keep it real

You have the ability to control your anger, it doesn’t have to control you. Only you are responsible for your life and how you choose to react to any given situation.

Whenever you disagree with someone, and you start to feel the first bouts of anger coming on, hold your tongue and take conscious deep breaths instead. Leave the room. Let your heart rate return to normal until your mind is focused again.

When the time is right, express your frustration by talking about it in a calm manner. For instance you could say “I feel hurt when we are in a disagreement because I truly care what you think” or “why do you feel this way?” “how can we resolve this?” This way the conversation doesn’t revolve around who’s right or wrong. You let the other person know that you are willing to listen with a caring ear, making space for an honest and calm conversation to happen.

In this way you will save yourself the painful realization aftermath that the whole thing was over dramatized. A misunderstanding that could have been cleared out in the early stages had you just put your pride to the side for a moment.

If you don’t have the possibility to talk it over, go for a run, listen to some music that speaks to you, play a video game, write in your journal your thoughts and feelings, or find an outlet to transfer that powerful emotion outward (without having to punch anyone.)

4. Liberate Yourself from Repressed Anger with Visualization

Visualize the person you love the most in your life for a few moments. Fill your heart with those positive feelings.

Now picture the person(s) who have hurt you in the past. Say “I forgive you.” “I am releasing you.” Try to feel the release of the negative energy in your body, heart, and mind. This doesn’t mean that you are dismissing your justified feelings of anger. According to St. Augustine, “forgiveness is simply the act of surrendering our desire for revenge; that is, our desire to hurt someone for having hurt us.” Forgiveness will unload a huge burden off your heart. Do it for yourself.

Recall the good moments you lived with the person(s) you have in mind; what they said or did that you appreciated. It will become easier to finally forgive and let go. Do it for yourself.

5. Accept that the past cannot be undone

Focus on improving your present life instead, which will determine your future. Holding on to resentful thoughts will only drag you backwards, also preventing you from cultivating meaningful interpersonal relationships. Your cynical mood will affect the way you see and interpret the world around you. As a result, you miss out on life and other beautiful moments. The past doesn’t have to define you. But you can redefine your future self. Drop that bag of bricks you’ve been carrying around by starting a new chapter in your life. You have a another chance for happiness.

6. Accept the fact that a lot of things will always be beyond your control

Sometimes things don’t go your way no matter how much control you think you have. Similarly, you cannot change people, all you can do is accept them as they are or walk away.

7. Choose to be more open instead of being angry and closed off

Personally, I find that the most effective way to let go of my anger is to ignore the voice that tells me to keep myself guarded (unless my gut is telling me so.) I tell myself instead that everyone is unique and different. People will respond to me based on how I respond to them in the first place.

Being honest and open creates a bonding experience. There is no room for anger when you lay it all out. By clearing up any misconception that may arise you can move forward instead of clinging to negative thoughts and assumptions. You reclaim your power by being authentic with yourself and others.

I choose to make conscious efforts to build genuine human connections, to see from other peoples’ point of view before jumping to hasty conclusions.

Empathy and understanding of others defuse my angry feelings.

Cultivating better relationships, choosing forgiveness over bitterness, not letting the past affect my present life, and expressing my feelings in healthier ways, has led me to let go of past grudges and live life more in peace.

Anger is a normal human reaction. You just learned to rely on it too much for protection, but many times it is unnecessary and uncalled for. It damages your relationships and if it isn’t properly managed, will damage your health as well.

This life is meant to be enjoyed. But an angry heart will kill joy every time. Rage is the most devastating and lethal human emotion. By effectively managing your anger instead of suppressing it or flying off the handle, you will gain more self confidence and self respect. You will reclaim your energy and peace of mind.

If your anger comes back like a sudden violent storm, don’t deny it. Allow the emotion to pass and the raging water to return to calm. Let your pain get expressed, your side of the story get heard by talking about it in a normal tone instead of yelling. Then gently let the negative emotions go by deeply accepting yourself just as you are.

Scientists Are Only Just Beginning To Discover What Causes Gray Hair

Gray hair is the tell-tale sign of aging. But it wasn’t until March of 2016 that scientists discovered a gene that plays a role in the hair graying process. As Dr. Kaustubh Adhikari, the lead author of the study that outlines this discovery, explained: “We already know several genes involved in balding and hair color but this is the first time a gene for graying has been identified in humans, as well as other genes influencing hair shape and density.”

Thanks to this study, we now have strong evidence to suggest that genetics—specifically a gene called IRF4—play a role in graying hair, not just environmental factors like stress or smoking. The logical next step? Developing products to delay the graying process. Watch the video below for more details on this gray hair gene study.

The real reason that nothing goes faster than the Light.

Light is faster than anything else (Credit: Amana Images Inc/Alamy Stock Photo)

It was September 2011 and physicist Antonio Ereditato had just shocked the world.

The announcement he had made promised to overturn our understanding of the Universe. If the data gathered by 160 scientists working on the OPERA project were correct, the unthinkable had been observed.

Particles – in this case, neutrinos – had travelled faster than light.

This time the scientists got it wrong

According to Einstein’s theories of relativity, this should not have been possible. And the implications for showing it had happened were vast. Many bits of physics might have to be reconsidered.

Although Ereditato said that he and his team had “high confidence” in their result, they did not claim that they knew it was completely accurate. In fact, they were asking for other scientists to help them understand what had happened.

In the end, it turned out the OPERA result was wrong. A timing problem had been caused by a poorly connected cable that should have been transmitting accurate signals from GPS satellites.

There was an unexpected delay in the signal. As a consequence, the measurements of how long the neutrinos took to travel the given distance were off by about 73 nanoseconds, making it look as though they had whizzed along more quickly than light could have done.

Despite months of careful checks prior to the experiment, and plentiful double-checking of the data afterwards, this time the scientists got it wrong. Ereditato resigned, though many pointed out that mistakes like these happen all the time in the hugely complex machinery of particle accelerators.

Why was it such a big deal to suggest – even as a possibility – that something had travelled faster than light? And are we really sure that nothing can?

Let’s take the second of those questions first. The speed of light in a vacuum is 299,792.458 km per second – just shy of a nice round 300,000km/s figure. That is pretty nippy. The Sun is 150 million km away from Earth and light takes just eight minutes and 20 seconds to travel that far.

He needed to use ever-larger amounts of additional energy to make ever-smaller differences to the speed

Can any of our own creations compete in a race with light? One of the fastest human-made objects ever built, the New Horizons space probe, passed by Pluto and Charon in July 2015. It has reached a speed relative to the Earth of just over 16km/s, well below 300,000km/s.

However, we have made tiny particles travel much faster than that. In the early 1960s, William Bertozzi at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology experimented with accelerating electrons at greater and greater velocities.

Because electrons have a charge that is negative, it is possible to propel – or rather, repel – them by applying the same negative charge to a material. The more energy applied, the faster the electrons will be accelerated.

You might imagine that you just need to increase the energy applied in order to reach the required speed of 300,000km/s, but it turns out that it just is not possible for electrons to move that fast. Bertozzi’s experiments found that using more energy did not simply cause a directly proportional increase in electron speed.

As objects travel faster and faster, they get heavier and heavier

Instead, he needed to use ever-larger amounts of additional energy to make ever-smaller differences to the speed the electrons moved. They got closer and closer to the speed of light but never quite reached it.

Imagine travelling towards a door in a series of moves, in each of which you travel exactly half the distance between your current position and the door. Strictly speaking, you will never reach the door, because after every move you make you still have some distance still to travel. That is the kind of problem Bertozzi encountered with his electrons.

But light is made up of particles called photons. Why can these particles travel at the speed of light when particles like electrons cannot?

“As objects travel faster and faster, they get heavier and heavier – the heavier they get, the harder it is to achieve acceleration, so you never get to the speed of light,” saysRoger Rassool, a physicist at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

“A photon actually has no mass,” he says. “If it had mass, it couldn’t travel at the speed of light.”

For the most part it is fair to say that light travels at 300,000km/s

Photons are pretty special. Not only do they have no mass, which gives them free reign when it comes to zipping about in vacuums like space, they do not have to speed up. The natural energy they possess, travelling as they do in waves, means that the moment they are created, they are already at top speed.

In fact, in some ways it makes more sense to think of light as energy rather than as a flow of particles, though truthfully it is – a little confusingly – both.

Still, light sometimes appears to travel more slowly than we might expect. Although internet technicians like to talk about communications travelling at “the speed of light” through optical fibres, light actually travels around 40% slower through the glass of those fibres than it would through a vacuum.

In reality, the photons are still travelling at 300,000km/s, but they are encountering a kind of interference caused by other photons being released from the glass atoms as the main light wave travels past. It is a tricky concept to get your head around, but it is worth noting.

Similarly, special experiments with individual photons have managed to slow them down by altering their shape.

Still, for the most part it is fair to say that light travels at 300,000km/s. We really have not observed or created anything that can go quite that quickly, or indeed more quickly. There are a few special cases, mentioned below, but before those, let’s tackle that other question. Why is it so important that this speed of light rule be so strict?

Even though the distance has increased, Einstein’s theories insist that the light is still travelling at the same speed

The answer lies, as so often in physics, with a man named Albert Einstein. His theory of special relativity explores many of the consequences of these universal speed limits.

One of the important elements in the theory is the idea that the speed of light is a constant. No matter where you are or how fast you are travelling, light always travels at the same speed.

But that creates some conceptual problems.

Imagine shining light from a torch up to a mirror on the ceiling of a stationary spacecraft. The light will shine upwards, reflect off the mirror, and come down to hit the floor of the spacecraft. Let’s say the distance travelled is 10m.

Now let’s imagine that the spacecraft begins travelling at a hair-raising speed, many thousands of kilometres per second.

Time travels slower for people travelling in fast-moving vehicles

When you shine the torch again, the light will still seem to behave as before: it will shine upwards, hit the mirror, and bounce back to hit the floor. But in order to do so the light will have to travel diagonally rather than just vertically. After all, the mirror is now moving quickly along with the spacecraft.

The distance the light travels therefore increases. Let’s imagine it has increased overall by 5m. That is 15m in total, instead of 10m.

And yet, even though the distance has increased, Einstein’s theories insist that the light is still travelling at the same speed. Since speed is distance divided by time, for the speed to be the same but the distance to have increased, time must also have increased.

Yes, time itself must have got stretched. That sounds wacky, but it has been proved experimentally.

It is a phenomenon known as time dilation. It means time travels slower for people travelling in fast-moving vehicles, relative to those who are stationary.

For example, time runs 0.007 seconds slower for astronauts on the International Space Station, which is moving at 7.66 km/s relative to Earth, compared to people on the planet.

The muons are generated with so much energy that they’re moving at velocities very near the speed of light

Things get interesting for particles, like the electrons mentioned above, that can travel close to the speed of light. For these particles, the degree of time dilation can be great.

Steven Kolthammer, an experimental physicist at the University of Oxford in the UK, points to an example involving particles called muons.

Muons are unstable: they quickly fall apart into simpler particles. So quickly, in fact, that most muons leaving the Sun should have decayed away by the time they reach the Earth. But in reality muons arrive at Earth from the Sun in great numbers. This was something scientists long found difficult to understand.

“The answer to this puzzle is that the muons are generated with so much energy that they’re moving at velocities very near the speed of light,” says Kolthammer. “So their sense of time, if you will, their internal clock, actually runs slow.”

The muons were “kept alive” longer than expected, relative to us, thanks to a real, natural bending of time.

When objects move quickly relative to other objects, their length contracts as well. These consequences, time dilation and length contraction, are both examples of how space-time changes based on the motion of things – like you, me or a spacecraft – that have mass.

There are galaxies in the Universe moving away from one another at a velocity greater than the speed of light

Crucially, as Einstein said, light does not get affected in the same way – because it has no mass. That is why it is so important that all of these principles go hand-in-hand. If things could travel faster than light, they would disobey these fundamental laws that describe how the Universe works.

That sums up the key principles. At this point, we can consider a few exceptions and caveats.

For one thing, while nothing has ever been observed travelling faster than light, that does not mean it is not theoretically possible to break this speed limit in very special circumstances.

Take, for instance, the expansion of the Universe itself. There are galaxies in the Universe moving away from one another at a velocity greater than the speed of light.

There is yet another possible way in which faster-than-light travel is technically possible

Another interesting situation concerns particles that seem to be expressing the same properties at the same time, no matter how far apart they are.

This is called “quantum entanglement”. In essence, a photon will flip back and forth between two possible states at random – but the flips will exactly mirror the flipping of another photon somewhere else, if the two are entangled.

Two scientists each studying their own photon will therefore get the same results at the same time, faster than the speed of light.

However, in both these examples it is crucial to note that no information is travelling faster than the speed of light between two entities. We can calculate the Universe’s expansion, but we cannot observe any faster-than-light objects in it: they have disappeared from view.

As for the two scientists with their photons, while they might achieve the same result simultaneously, they could not confirm the fact with each other any more quickly than light could travel between them.

“This gets us out of any problems, because if you are able to send signals faster than light you can construct bizarre paradoxes, under which information can somehow go backwards in time,” says Kolthammer.

What if instead you actively distorted space-time in a controlled way?

There is yet another possible way in which faster-than-light travel is technically possible: rifts in space-time itself that allow a voyager to escape the rules of normal travel.

Gerald Cleaver at Baylor University in Texas has considered the possibility that we might one day build a faster-than-light spacecraft. One of the ways to do this might be to travel through a wormhole. These are loops in space-time, perfectly consistent with Einstein’s theories, which could allow an astronaut to hop from one bit of the Universe to another via an anomaly in space-time, a sort of cosmic shortcut.

The object travelling through the wormhole would not exceed the speed of light, but it could theoretically reach a certain destination faster than light could if it took a “normal” route.

But wormholes might not be available for space travel. What if instead you actively distorted space-time in a controlled way, to travel faster than 300,000km/s relative to someone else?

Cleaver has investigated an idea known as an “Alcubierre drive”, proposed by theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre in 1994. Essentially, it describes a situation in which space-time is squashed in front of a spacecraft, pulling it forward, while space-time behind the craft is expanded, creating a pushing effect.

“But then,” says Cleaver, “there’s the issues of how to do that, and how much energy it’s going to take.”

Faster-than-light travel remains a fantasy at the moment

In 2008, he and graduate student Richard Obousy calculated some of the energies involved.

“We worked out that, if you assume a ship that’s about 10m x 10m x 10m – you’re talking 1,000 cubic metres – that the amount of energy it would take to start the process would need to be on the order of the entire mass of Jupiter.”

After that, the energy would have to continue being provided constantly in order to ensure the process did not fail. No-one knows how that would ever be possible, or what the technology to do it would look like.

“I don’t want to be misquoted centuries from now for predicting it would never come about,” says Cleaver, “but right now I don’t see solutions.”

Faster-than-light travel, then, remains a fantasy at the moment.

But while that may sound disappointing, light is anything but. In fact, for most of this article we have been thinking in terms of visible light. But really light is much, much more than that.

Everything from radio waves to microwaves to visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and the gamma rays emitted by decaying atoms – all of these fantastic rays are made of the same stuff: photons.

The difference is the energy, and therefore their wavelength. Collectively these rays make up the electromagnetic spectrum. The fact that radio waves, for instance, travel at the speed of light is enormously useful for communications.

Space-time is malleable and that allows for everyone to experience the same laws of physics

In his research, Kolthammer builds circuitry that uses photons to send signals from one part of the circuit to another, so he is well placed to comment on the usefulness of light’s awesome speed.

“The idea that we’ve built the infrastructure of the internet for example and even before that, radio, based on light, certainly has to do with the ease with which we can transmit it,” he points out.

He adds that light acts as a communicating force for the Universe. When electrons in a mobile phone mast jiggle, photons fly out and make other electrons in your mobile phone jiggle too. It is this process that lets you make a phone call.

The jiggling of electrons in the Sun also emits photons – at fantastic rates – which, of course, produces the light that nourishes life on Earth.

Light is the Universe’s broadcast. That speed – 299,792.458 km/s – remains reassuringly constant. Meanwhile, space-time is malleable and that allows for everyone to experience the same laws of physics no matter their position or motion.
